Billa : Glorious 75 Days :: GALATTA !!!

If there is one film that has managed to rake in some serious moolah
amidst the duds of 2008, it is Ajith's Billa. Released in December
2007, the film is still packing a punch at the box office.

The film is celebrating its superlative 75-day run today. At a time
when remakes are considered risky, Billa managed to dispel such fears
by standing up to the original, both in form and content.

The credit for this glorious success lies with the entire team behind
this blockbuster, especially Ajith, who interpreted the lead
character (played by Rajinikanth in the original) as a suave and
calculating criminal, thereby giving a new colour to the role.
Mention must be made of the leading ladies of the film, Nayantara and
Namitha, who oozed glamour on screen.

The groovy beats of Yuvan Shankar Raja too were instrumental in
increasing the pre-release hype of the film. Mention must also be
made of the film's cinematographer Nirav Shah, who gave the film a
stylish look that is comparable to Hollywood films. The biggest
applause should be reserved for the captain of the crew, director
Vishnuvardhan, who was bold enough to take a cult classic and make it
appeal to today's audience.
